The brilliant boy who connected the world
On May 14, 1984, in White Plains, a genius named Mark Zuckerberg was born. From an early age, he showed interest in the world of programming. He was very curious and always looked for technological solutions to everyday problems.
When he was a child, he was playing at home and found a book that caught his attention—it was a programming book. He started reading it and practicing on the home computer. The more he learned, the more his passion for computers grew. His parents supported him by enrolling him in programming courses. From a young age, Mark showed a great talent for programming. His family didn’t realize they had a genius among them, although little by little they began to see it.
At just 12 years old, he created his first program, which he called ZuckNet. It was instant messaging software designed to connect his family. Greatness is not a matter of age, and Mark is a clear example of this. Being so little, his ideas were incredibly big. Although his first program aimed to connect his family, that brilliant boy dreamed of connecting the world.
In 2002, Mark entered Harvard University to study psychology and computer science. A year later, he developed "Facemash," a website where students could rate their classmates' appearance. Even though it was controversial, it gained attention. However, Mark wasn’t satisfied with just that. He thought of an idea to connect all the students at his university and make communication easier. Together with some of his university friends, he created "TheFacebook," a website for Harvard students to share and communicate. It quickly became popular, expanded to other universities, and eventually reached the entire world.
Mark knew the potential of what he had created, so he made the difficult decision to leave his studies and dedicate himself fully to his project. Sometimes, hard choices have to be made, but taking risks is worth it when it comes to following your dreams. Mark changed the platform’s name to "Facebook," and by 2012, it had surpassed one billion users.
What started as a child’s dream to connect the world became a reality. The greatest things begin as simple ideas, and it is those ideas, combined with innovation and determination, that truly change the world.
